CHAPTER – 3 (Modifying slides in OpenOffice Impress (Open Source)
* Answer the following questions :-
1. Why do we insert picture in a slide?
Ans – We insert picture in a slide to make the presentation more interesting and engaging.
2. How many ways to insert picture in the slide? Ans – There are two ways to insert picture –
(i) From File
(ii) From Gallery
3. What are the steps to insert image in a slide from File ? Ans – The steps are :-
(i) Select Insert Option.
(ii) Go to Picture.
(iii) Select from File.
(iv) Choose the desired picture and click on ‘Open’.
4. What is Gallery?
Ans – Gallery is an area where we can find various themes or groups like backgrounds, bullets, homepage, diagrams, computers, arrows etc.
5. What are the steps to insert image in a slide from Gallery? Ans – The steps are :-
(i) click on Tools menu.
(ii) click on Gallery.
(iii) Select the Theme of your choice.
(iv) Right click on the desired image and go to the Insert option.
(v) click on copy.
6. How can we resize the image in impress?
Ans – We can resize the image by bringing the mouse pointer to the corner of the image, a double sided arrow will appear, now press and hold the left mouse button, drag it either outwards or inwards direction to increase or decrease the image.
7. What is Drawing Toolbar?
Ans – The drawing toolbar contains all necessary functions for drawing various geometric and freehand shapes and organizing them on page.
8. Write the steps to open drawing toolbar? Ans – The steps are :-
(i) Click on View menu.
(ii) Go to Toolbars.
(iii) Click on Drawing.
9. Write the use of the following tools.
(i) Select Tool – It allows us to select and move objects on the slide.
(ii) Line Tool – It allows us to draw lines in the slide.
(iii) Arrow Tool – It allows us to draw arrows in the slide.
(iv) Rectangle Tool – It allows us to draw rectangles by clicking the tool.
(v) Ellipse Tool – It allows us to draw ellipse by clicking the tool.
(vi) Text Tool – It allows us to insert the text in the slide.
(vii) Curve Tool – It allows us to draw free-drawn/curve lines.
(viii) Connector Tool – It allows us to connect graphics to create flow charts or diagrams.
(ix) Block Arrows Tool – It allows us to draw block shaped arrows.
(x) Flowcharts Tool – It allows us to draw flowchart shapes.
(xi) Callouts Tool – It allows us to insert callouts.
(x) Stars Tool – It allows us to insert different star shapes.
10. How many types of shapes can be inserted in Impress? Ans – We can insert variety of shapes in impress –
(i) Basic shapes
(ii) Symbol shapes
(iii) Block Arrows
(iv) Flowcharts
(v) Callouts
(vi) Stars etc.
11. What are the steps to insert shapes? Ans – The steps are :-
(i) Select the desired shape.
(ii) Place the mouse pointer at suitable place on the slide.
(iii) Hold the left mouse button and drag it to draw the shape.
12. What is Fontwork?
Ans – Fontwork allows us to give various effects and styles to the text.
13. Write the steps to insert Fontwork? Ans – The steps are :-
(i) Click on view menu.
(ii) Select toolbars
(iii) Click on Fontwork. Fontwork gallery toolbar appears.
(iv) Click on the Fontwork Gallery tab on the Fontwork toolbar.
(v) Choose any Fontwork and click on OK.
(vi) Double click on the fontwork inserted to insert the desired text. (Note- Fontwork Gallery can also be inserted from the Drawing toolbar.)
14. Fill in the blanks :-
