i. What is GIMP?

Ans. GIMP is a free open source image editing software. It stands for GNU Image Manipulation program. It is one of the faster graphics editor application.

ii. How to Start GIMP? 

Ans. To start GIMP:-

Click on start button on Right Side on Taskbar.

All programs Click on GIMP

iii. In which format we can Save Image?

Ans. We can saved image in different format. Like bmp, Jpeg, Gif and Png.

iv. What is image editing?

Ans. Image editing encompassed the processes of altering images.

v. List few image editing tools available.

vi. What is photo retouching?

ix. Explain functionality of the following- Ans.

a) Rectangle Selection Tool: - the Rectangle Selection tool is designed to select rectangular regions of the active layer. It the most basic of the selection tools, and very commonly used.

b) Oval/Ellipse Selection Tool: - The oval Selection tool is used to select circular and elliptical regions from an image.

c) Free Selection Tool:- The Free Selection tool or Lasso, lets you select a drawing it free-hand with the pointer, while holding down the left mouse button. When you release the mouse button, the selection is closed by connecting the current pointer location to the start location with a straight line.

d) Text Tool:- The Text tool places text into an image. You can write your text directly on the canvas. It appears on the canvas in a rectangular frame.

2. Fill in the blanks.

i. GIMP is the most powerful image editing tool.

ii. The default colour of foreground is BLACK.

iii. FG COLOUR COMMAND fills the selected area of image with the foreground colour.

iv. CLEAR COMMAND deletes everything in the current selection.

v. Rectangular, square, circular, elliptical area or the free hand selections are AREA SELECTION TOOLS.

vi. We can reduce or change the size of the image with the help of SCALE TOOL.

vii. CROPPING means removing unwanted edge areas from an image.

viii. ERASER Tool is used to remove portion of an image.

ix. Scale option is used to change the SIZE of an image.

x. Shift + C is the shortcut to CROP the image.

xi. The FREE SELECTION tool allows you to select a drawing with the free hand.

xii. GIMP is  an OPEN SOURCE editing tool.

xiii. CANVAS is the most important part of the image window where the image is displayed.

xiv. The TEXT tool places text into image.
