a) What do you mean by computer memory ?


Ans : computer memory is any physical device capable of storing information temporarily or permanently.

b) What are the types of   computer   memory ?


Ans: computer memory is of two basic types . primary memory (RAM and ROM ) and   secondary memory (Hard drive, CD .etc.)

c) Which memory is also known as long term memory of computer ? Ans: ROM (read only memory)

d) What are the different data storage units ?


Ans: Data storage unis are bit ,byte, kilobyte, megabyte, gigabyte, terabyte, petabyte …….

e) How many bytes are in a kilobyte.


Ans: 1024 bytes


f) What are secondary storage devices ? Give some examples.


Ans: secondary storage devices are devices that operate alongside the computer’s primary storage and can store large amount of data from a few megabytes to petabytes. Examples are hard drive, cd, dvd, pendrive …..etc.

g) Write differences between primary memory and secondary memory.

Ans: Blu-Ray Disc (BD,BRD)


j) What is CPU? Write its functions and parts.


Ans; CPU stands for central processing unit . it is called brain of computer and responsible for processing the data and saving it on computers memory. It has three parts. CU, ALU & MU.
