Ans - Skeleton of a women has generally a broader hip and the pelvic area for child bearing. Jewelry found on the skeleton also help us to know whether skeleton belongs to a women or a man.
4. What are the literary sources of Indian history?
Ans - literary sources are mainly divided into four parts :
i. Religious literature like Vedas, Angas and Pitakas.
ii. Non religious literature like Arthshastra, Abhigyan shakuntalam, prose, poetry and grammar.
iii. Secular literature - it consist the information provided by the Chinese Pilgrim Fa-hien and Greek ambassador Megasthenes.
iv. Historical literature - It Consists autobiography and biography like Harsh Charitr.

1. Distinguish between archeological and literary sources.
Ans - Archeological sources - Study of the materials like inscriptions, coins, monuments etc. discovered by archeologist by excavation is know as archaeological sources of History.
Literary Sources - All written records of the past are know as literary source. Ex - Vedas, Abhigyan Shakuntlam, Harshacharit etc.
2. How do archaeological source materials help us to learn about our past ?
Ans - Remains of the past like Inscriptions, coins, monuments, painting, sculpture etc. are archaeological source materials. Picture or written records engraved on these materials help us to learn about the social economical and religious condition of that time. Painting and sculpture also tell us about the art and culture of the past.
3. What is more important in history-events, persons, places or dates? Give reasons to justify your answer.
Answer: In history events, persons, places or dates all are important but, dates are most important among all. Without a date historical person, event or place are meaningless because dates tell us about the particular period in which they happened.
4. How do secular literary sources throw light on the life of the people in any period of history?
Answer: Account of events by some pilgrims and travellers are Secular literary sources. We get the important information about the life of the contemporary people provided by these literatures.
5. How does the study of coins help the historians?
Answer: Pictures and writing engraved on the coins give information about the social, religious, economical life of that period. Metal used for making coins like gold, silver, copper, also help us to know the economical condition and prosperity of that period. Coins of any ruler found in any other country and territory of other rulers show trade relations between them. We came to know the technical advancement by making process of the coins.
